A truck driver was injured and airlifted to the hospital Monday after his truck went down an embankment and flipped over in Agua Dulce, firefighters said.

Los Angeles County firefighters responded to reports shortly before 10 a.m. of an overturned vehicle with a person trapped on Soledad Canyon Road at Agua Dulce Canyon Road, a spokeswoman for the Fire Department said.

“We got the call as a person trapped in a vehicle at 12000 block of Soledad Canyon Road,” she said. “The vehicle was over the side 25 to 30 feet.”

“It was about 25 feet down on a gentle slope” and had flipped over, trapping the occupant, fire officials said.

Firefighters freed the drive using hydraulic sheers to cut away the truck’s metal, said Capt. Robert Hazelton of Fire Station No. 132.

A rescue helicopter touched down near the crash at 10:34 a.m. and was en route to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital with the victim at 10:39 a.m., the Fire Department spokeswoman said.

The driver’s identity was not released.
