A 35-year-old woman in Newhall was pushed to the ground Wednesday morning by a purse-snatcher who ran with her purse to a waiting dark-colored sedan driven by a woman, a local sheriff’s spokesman said.

Shortly after 8:30 a.m., deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to reports of a robbery that occurred near the intersection on Arcadia Street near Lyons Avenue, Sgt. Ron Price confirmed Wednesday.

Deputies alerted to the incident were told the woman was walking on Arcadia when a tall Hispanic man pushed her to the ground from behind, grabbed her purse and was last seen getting into a 4-door grey sedan.

Price said he had no update on the victim’s physical condition.

Asked about the search for the suspects, he said: “We’re still looking.”

The car was last seen travelling southbound on Arcadia.

The suspect is described as about 6-foot, 200-pound man wearing a grey sweatshirt and blue jeans.

The victim’s purse was described only as grey and black.
