SANTA CLARITA - A 16-year-old skateboarder was injured Tuesday and taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital after a collision with a car at a busy Canyon Country intersection.

The skateboarder was crossing the westbound lanes of Soledad Canyon Road at Rainbow Glen Drive under the direction of a crossing guard when he was struck by a wine-colored PT Cruiser shortly after 3 p.m., said Deputy Y. Polissky.

“He was crossing the road and she came through and hit him,” Polissky said after he interviewed the crossing guard, who said he witnessed the collision.

Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics secured the injured teen on a back board and loaded him into an ambulance to be taken to the hospital.

The teen was conscious with noticeable abrasions to his hands. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, Polissky said.

The youth’s identity was not released.
