SANTA CLARITA - Two robberies were reported in a six-hour period in Newhall late Sunday and early Monday, and investigators say they may be linked.

Both crimes were described as forced purse-snatchings, Lt. Tom Bryski said Monday. No weapons were used in either case, he said.

Deputies received a report of a robbery in the 25000 block of Peachland Avenue in Newhall about 10 p.m. Sunday.

A female victim was allegedly pushed to the ground and her purse taken before the suspect — described in the report as a male wearing a Dodgers jacket — ran to a gray sedan and fled.

Deputies received another robbery call at 4:05 a.m. Monday in the 24000 block of Walnut, also in Newhall.

In that incident, a female victim was reportedly pushed to the ground as two male suspects took her purse and fled in an unknown vehicle.

Bryski said the second woman hit her head on the ground in the struggle with the suspects and was taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital.

Investigators say the two crimes may be linked “because it’s the same area and the same day (and) the same M.O.,” Bryski said.

No arrests had been made in either case.
