SANTA CLARITA - Officials from the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office are performing autopsies on two people — believed to be actor Paul Walker and Santa Clarita Valley business owner Roger Rodas — who were killed in a car crash in Valencia Saturday.

“They are in progress as we speak,” said spokesman Ed Winter around 11:30 a.m. “We don’t know if we’ll have results by late this afternoon or not.”

While the two bodies found in the wreckage of a red Porsche that crashed Saturday afternoon have yet to be officially identified by the coroner’s office, the pair have been widely identified as Walker, an actor best known for his roles in the “Fast and Furious” film franchise, and Rodas, a Valencia business owner and local resident.

The families of both men have provided dental records, which will permit not only formal identification of the bodies, but also official word on whether Walker or Rodas was behind the wheel.

An investigator with the coroner’s office told The Signal this week that the two bodies were too badly burned to be identified visually or by fingerprints.
