No one was injured when a train struck a vehicle on the Metrolink tracks south of the Newhall station, according to an official with the transit agency.

Jeff Lustgarten, a spokesman for Metrolink, said the train struck the vehicle around 8:25 p.m. Monday.

A person claiming to be the vehicle’s owner said no one was in car when the train came.

Lustgarten said none of the train’s 177 passengers reported any injuries.

The vehicle was towed from the tracks around 50 minutes after the incident and, after an inspection of both the train and the track line, rail service was able to resume.

Aside from last night’s one-hour delay, there has been no service interruption as a result of the incident, Lustgarten said.

“Everything is fine this morning,” he said shortly after 9:30 a.m.
