Holiday drive benefits food pantry

One of the great things about the holiday season is that most people, no matter their circumstances, tend to step back a little bit and realize they should be thankful for many things in their lives.

Most of us are very fortunate here in the Santa Clarita Valley. We live in a great place, and most of us don’t go without the basic necessities of life.

But there are many people here who are less fortunate and who are living on the edge. They may have been out of work for a long time, become sick, or just have a job that doesn’t pay very much. Coming up with rent or food money is a huge struggle for them.

But they are not alone. The Santa Clarita Valley Food Pantry is there for them. So are the many volunteers who help the Food Pantry do its work.

There are 100 such volunteers who help out each week simply because some of their neighbors in our community need them. We thank them for that.

The Food Pantry assists 40 to 50 families a day, providing them with a balanced offering of nutritional items — thanks to the generous people of the Santa Clarita Valley and our grocery stores, which do their part.

Although the Food Pantry is in need of donated items throughout the year, it uses the holiday season as a time to stage a special food drive to raise awareness throughout the community concerning its work.

This holiday season, Signal Multimedia is a donation spot for those people in the community who want to help.

Please bring packaged and canned goods to our offices in Valencia and we’ll make sure the Food Pantry gets your donation.

The drive continues until Dec. 13 and we’re hoping that we break records on donations this year.

We offer heartfelt thanks to those generous people in our community who have already donated. People like you are the reason this community is such a great place to live.

And when the holiday season ends, don’t forget about the SCV Food Pantry. It needs help all year round.

For those who can donate through Dec. 13, please stop by the Signal Multimedia offices at:
24000 Creekside Rd., Valencia.

Thank you.
