In ardent defense of the Bouquet bug

I opened my Signal last Sunday and there was that beautiful bug that resides on Bouquet Canyon Road!

But the picture left out the pretty lillies that are there also. However, it made me smile, just as it did the first time I saw it.

I don’t see it every time I pass because the traffic is always pretty heavy and that requires my first attention. But when I have a chance, I always check it out.

It is so fun to see and is really a work of art, at least to me.

I was sorry to read some of the complaints regarding it. There is so much negativity in life at this time that I consider the Western Tiger Swallowtail a thing of joy.

It made me think of the beautiful dragon flies I used to try to catch as a kid.

Is it absurd? Maybe to some. Is it ridiculous? Maybe to some to whom life is not that much fun.

Is it whimsical? YES! Is it joyful, fun and beautiful? ABSOLUTELY! At least to those of us who like to see the happy side of life amid a mess of misery here and there.

I don’t know who is responsible for its installation, but I am glad it was done. It brightens up the day!
