Even after achieving success as a TV and film actor, Michael Welch of Canyon Country passionately supports the world’s largest youth-oriented clean water charity - The Thirst Project.

Thirst Project is a non-profit that builds clean water wells in developing countries and Michael has been working with the project for about four years.

And he just recently launched a new campaign to provide safe and clean drinking water to people in desperate need.

“They’ve reached nearly half a million high school and college students around the U.S. on their annual school tour, raised millions of dollars, and have gotten clean water to hundreds of thousands of people in 11 different countries in Asia, Africa, and South America,” Michael said. “They are the world’s largest youth-oriented clean water charity.”

As a result he’s trying to raise the funds to build a well in Swaziland, a small nation just north of South Africa. The well will cost $12,000 to bring clean water to 500 people in desperate need – and Michael is very close to reaching the goal. He’s hoping people from his hometown in Santa Clarita will help him reach it.

“All I’m asking people to give is 10-bucks. That’s it,” he said. “Feel free to give whatever you like, but I’m trying to prove that small actions, cumulatively, can make the world a better place.”

Donations can be made online on Michael's crowdrise page. Make sure your name appears on the donation site.

Or checks can be made out to: Thirst Project Michael Welch Campaign and mailed to 26336A Oak Highland Drive, Newhall, CA 91321.
