A Canyon Country businessman accused of trying to hire a hit man to kill his wife pleaded not guilty today to a charge of attempted murder, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office said.

Dino Roy Guglielmelli, 52, who heads a natural products company and lives in Sand Canyon, appeared Tuesday in San Fernando Superior Court, where he entered the plea of not guilty, the spokeswoman said.

He is now scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing Dec. 3. During that hearing, prosecutors will present evidence in the case, and the defense can respond, after which the judge will decide if the case should go to trial.

Guglielmelli was arrested Oct. 3 on suspicion of attempted murder, according to records from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

His bail was set at $2 million at the time of his arrest, but bail was later revoked.

He remains in custody without bail at the Men’s Central Jail on Bauchet Street in Los Angeles, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Inmate Information Center.

A 20-year resident of the Santa Clarita Valley, Guglielmelli started a natural products company in 1993 called Creation’s Garden. The business started in Newhall but has since moved to a location in the Valencia Industrial Center near Castaic Junction.
