Santa Clarita’s nonprofit sister cities program is getting involved in Typhoon Haiyan relief efforts, organizers said Monday, accepting checks or cash donations to provide medical supplies in the Philippines’ hardest-hit area.

The assistance will provide medical supplies for the Eastern Visayas Regional Medical Center in Tacloban City, the area most devastated when the typhoon slammed into the island country Nov. 8, organizers for the Santa Clarita Valley International Program said.

Santa Clarita has two sister cities, one of them in the Philippines.

Checks or cash donations may be sent to the Santa Clarita Valley International Program, c/o the City of Santa Clarita, Attn: Tess Simgen, 23920 Valencia Boulevard, Suite 120, Santa Clarita, CA 91355. Checks should be made payable to SCVIP.
