McKeon stood his ground

I wish to take umbrage with Shari Sorbo ("Where the consistency?" in Letters, March 5) on Congressman Howard P. "Buck" McKeon's change of attitude.

I am so proud of Buck because he stood his ground opposed to the stimulus package against peer and political pressure. That was character. He believed it to be a mistake, and so do I, but it was passed anyway.

What would Sorbo have Buck do? Whine and moan because we were going to get a rather generous piece of the action for our valley? There was nothing Buck could do after the die was cast. So he embraced the positive side of the situation.

As far as I'm concerned, it is better to make the most of what you can with a positive attitude and go to work, which I feel he will do.

Isn't that better than saying "Obama is going to fail?" I hope all goes well, but I have lived long enough to hope and work toward the best goal in view, and remain realistic at the various possibilities and how to handle them when they appear.

The proper and positive attitude is important.

I believe Congressman McKeon does his best to do the right thing for our community and his area of responsibility, and wish him well, and thank him every step of the way.
