TRIPOLI, Libya (AP) — A security official says convoys of the Libyan military are deploying in the capital city of Tripoli to force out militiamen.

Essam al-Naas, spokesman from the Joint Operation Room, a security body under the prime minister, says that militias from the western city of Misrata, withdrew from their positions in four districts of the capital and returned to their city.

The military's move Monday, came after militiamen attacked protesters marching in Tripoli to demand the removal of armed groups that have been running rampant in the capital. The attack killed 43 people, and a day later another militia attempted to overrun a military base, resulting in a clash with government forces that left four dead.
