U.S. HealthWorks of Santa Clarita has acquired another urgent medical care center, the company announced this week.

The latest medical group to join U.S. HealthWorks is located in Pompano Beach, Florida.

The deal made sense from an operational point of view, said Dr. Frances McCarthy for the Florida urgent care practice, because the two organizations share the same goals.

U.S. HealthWorks now has 14 centers in Florida, including six in South Florida, two located in Fort Lauderdale.

Nationwide, U.S. HealthWorks has 203 centers and worksites in 19 states.

“We are very pleased to acquire Urgent Medical Care and expand our footprint in the Fort Lauderdale region,” said Gregory Marotta, senior vice president of national operations for U.S. HealthWorks.

U.S. HealthWorks now sees some 12,000 patients each day throughout the country, and has 2,700 employees – including approximately 800 medical providers, said a spokesperson for the company.

A subsidiary of Dignity Health, it is one of the country’s largest operators of occupational healthcare centers.

Terms of the Pompano Beach transaction were not disclosed.
