CASTAIC - Members of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors voted Tuesday to approve a $2.5 million contract for a geotechnical and environmental consultant services agreement at the Del Valle Regional Fire Training Facility in Castaic to prepare the site for potential future development of new training areas.

Supervisors voted Tuesday to award a three-year contract not to exceed $2.5 million with the option of two one-year renewals to Langan Engineering and Environmental Services.

The scope of that agreement includes a compilation and review of historic site data and preparation of an environmental management plan.

Langan will also provide material testing and geotechnical engineering services during the construction and design of proposed improvements, as well as assist with required environmental studies and permits necessary to comply with the California Environmental Quality Act, according to board documents.

The approximately 160-acre Del Valle facility is located at 28101 Chiquito Canyon Road in Castaic and is used by the Consolidated Fire Protection District of Los Angeles County to conduct live firefighting operations training for a variety of scenarios, including hazardous material accidents, victim transport from vehicle accidents, earthquake search and rescue and response to petroleum and other flammable liquid fires.
