SANTA CLARITA - Six people were taken to the hospital Tuesday following a three-vehicle traffic collision in Saugus, a sheriff’s deputy said.

Shortly after 3:15 p.m., Santa Clarita Valley sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of a traffic collision at the intersection of Bouquet Canyon Road and Lowe’s Plaza near the In-N-Out Burger.

“Six went to the hospital,” Deputy Kirk Petersen said. The genders, ages and identities of the victims were not disclosed.

Three vehicles sustained damage in the crash — a white Monte Carlo sedan, a dark-colored Yukon SUV and a black Toyota Camry.

Afternoon rush hour traffic southbound on Bouquet was stopped and motorists diverted onto Newhall Ranch Road.

That caused a backup in the Lowe’s Home Improvement shopping center parking lot. One motorist in a queue of vehicles in the parking lot said he had waited more than 20 minutes for a chance to leave.

The investigation was continuing.
