Cameron Smyth signed a "No new taxes" pledge and promised, in writing, that he would not vote for new taxes, yet he voted to put Measure 1A on the ballot, which would extend taxes until 2013.

As far as I am concerned, he willingly participated in raising every taxpayer's taxes. The new taxes will slow growth and cost every family in California billions of dollars.

I have contacted several of my friends who are willing to sign a petition with the intent to recall. Cameron Smyth is no good for Santa Clarita.

Worse yet, the local newspapers, including The Signal, haven't even covered this story. California's best bet at survival is to file for bankruptcy and start over, as the state is already insolvent.

California currently pays the highest income taxes, the highest sales tax and now a surcharge to file taxes with the state, along with the doubling of the DMV fees.
