Zonta Club of SCV offers free nutritional and wellness advice

How does one create a menu of balanced meals on a budget? What are some simple steps to incorporate exercise into your life?

Try managing stress with some simple, effective techniques and getting out of the "overwhelmed" mode by calming mind and body.

These topics and more will be covered at the third in a series of LifeForward workshops sponsored by Zonta Club of Santa Clarita Valley to help women gain control over their lives. This month's free workshop is scheduled from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, in the Valencia Library Community Room.

Panelists include Lori Hanson, a speaker, author and life balance consultant; and Karen Maleck-Whiteley, hypnotherapist, owner of Balance Point Spa, and author of the "Live Well, Stress Less" column.

Topics to be covered include balanced nutrition on a budget, exercise and how to work it into your life, simple and effective stress management techniques, and calming methods for mind and body.

The LifeForward workshops are an outgrowth of Zonta's Breakthrough to Success workshops. Future workshop topics will include Strengthening Relationships through Communication Skills on April 4 and Job Search and Career-Building Skills on May 16 - a topic of particular interest in the current economy, said DeAnne Joy, chairwoman of the Zonta program.

The Theme for the 2009 series is LifeForward: Believe, Build, Be. Believe in your unlimited power and potential. Build the skills necessary to succeed. Be the powerful woman you are meant to be.

All workshops are free and will be held on Saturdays from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Valencia Library, 23743 W. Valencia Blvd.
