4 local districts holding elections today

Three local school districts and a water district are conducting balloting today in an election that has drawn little attention outside of a mailer controversy.

Board seats in the Newhall, Sulphur Springs and Saugus Union school districts are on the ballots in their respective districts, along with board seats for the Newhall County Water District, which takes in Newhall and parts of Canyon Country, Saugus and Castaic.

In each case three seats are up for grabs on the five-member boards, while incumbents are facing off against one or, at the most, two challengers.

A mailer from an organization whose logo resembled the PTA’s was the main campaign issue, with candidates called to task for paying to put their names on what some regarded as a duplicitous document.

Polls in Los Angeles County are open today from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.for those who didn’t already vote by mail. Those who filled out a mail ballot but forgot to send it in can drop it by any authorized polling place today.

If you aren’t sure where your polling place is, you can locate nearby ones by using an online locator tool from the county Office of Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk. That can be found at
