Sheriff's deputies are asking residents to ignore e-mails and text messages touting gang initiations on Thursday night at Santa Clarita Valley Wal-Marts, according to a sheriff's news release.

The hoax appeared in 2005 in Florida, Georgia and Texas and pops up randomly in different states, according to the release.
Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's detectives from the COBRA team investigated the e-mails and reportedly gathered no intelligence that such an attack will happen.

Despite the fact this particular e-mail appears to be the same hoax, the Sheriff's Station planned to increase patrol checks of area stores throughout Thursday evening.

Any suspicious activity or persons should be immediately reported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station at (661) 255-1121.
