While recently vacationing in your beautiful city, I had the misfortune of becoming acutely ill. I was fortunate, however, to find myself in the emergency department of Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital. I am writing to publicly express my deep appreciation for the extraordinary care I received.

As a physician at a major academic medical center in New York, I am all too familiar with hospitals, particularly since I've also undergone major surgery at the Cleveland Clinic.

The highly professional, capable and consistently compassionate care afforded me during my stay (at Newhall Memorial) exceeded these esteemed institutions.

Despite it being a very busy night in the emergency department, the nursing care provided by Emma was instrumental in my resuscitation. She was a Godsend, as was Dr. Flaherty, whose expertise was equalled by the warmth of her bedside manner, all the more appreciated, because at the time I was having a tough time breathing. The inpatient care provided to me by Dr. Brar and Dr. Qickamarsinghe, as well as all the nurses on the Definitive Observation Unit, has led to my complete recovery and return to Long Island.

Your community is truly fortunate to be served by such a stellar health care facility. Thank you for supporting those individuals who where there when I needed them. I wish to extend my deepest appreciation to them and your kind community.
