Officials with the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Department have identified the man killed Wednesday after being struck by a vehicle while riding his bicycle in Saugus as 47-year-old Newhall resident Luis Ochoa.

He was struck by a car shortly after 8 a.m. Wednesday while he was riding a youth’s bicycle through the intersection of Magic Mountain Parkway and Railroad Avenue, according to officials with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

Sgt. Rich Cohen of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Traffic Division said at the time of the incident that the man riding the bicycle was riding against a red light and on the wrong side of the road when he was struck by the vehicle.

No charges have been filed against the driver of that vehicle and none are expected, according to officials.

A cause of death for Ochoa has not yet been determined, according to Craig Harvey, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Department.

“The case has not yet been examined,” Harvey said Friday.
