Exhibiting artist, Laurie Finklestein, won first place in the acrylic category for her art titled "A Boulder State of Being."

The Santa Clarita Artists’ Association, based in Saugus, sponsored the 24th annual Art Classic Gala on October 19, in Hart Park in Newhall.

The judges, Phyllis Doyon, Julie Snyder, and John Nichols, reviewed 141 pieces of art in categories of oils, acrylic, watercolor, collage, photography, sculpture and dry medium.

The association also held a silent auction to raise money to grant a $1,500 art scholarship.

The Silent Auction had over 150 items of paintings, sculpture, jewelry, wine, gift certificates and baskets of great stuff. It was fun for all.
