The College of the Canyons History Club is an extracurricular club that meets every Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the school’s Valencia campus. Meetings consist of activities such as presentations, trivia games, and open forum discussions about particular topics of interest.

On Veteran’s Day weekend the club will be attending a Civil War reenactment in Ventura County as a field trip, and on Nov. 22 the group will visit historic Los Angeles landmarks such as the Angel’s Flight.

For Halloween faculty member Mark Capehart made a presentation about the history of horror films, a subject in which he is well versed given his credentials as a graduate student in pop culture at UCSB.

Club members can have their participation in the club reflected in their transcripts by filling out COC’s student development forms, found at the office of student development of the Valencia campus.

Those interested in the History Club should get in contact with Brent Riffel, the club’s faculty advisor, at brent.riffel@canyons.edu.
