Dennis Witzel was inducted into the Candy Hall of Fame.

Dennis Witzel of Santa Clarita was one of 12 confectionery industry veterans from the U.S. and Europe to be named to the National Confectionery Sales Association’s prestigious Candy Hall of Fame on Oct. 19.

The induction ceremony took place at the association’s annual black-tie gala in Tampa, Florida.

The NCSA was founded in 1899. The Hall of Fame award is a singular honor, recognizing exemplary achievement, dedication and service to the candy industry. It is its highest accolade.

Dennis is a 40-plus year veteran of the chocolate industry and one of its most dedicated ambassadors. In his capacity as a salesman, instructor and chocolatier, Dennis has worked with, advised and guided countless confectioners and retailers throughout the Western U.S. and British Columbia.

During his long and successful career, Dennis has represented Nestle’, Peter’s Chocolate, and Cargill Cocoa & Chocolate.

He is now a self-employed businessman, which affords him the opportunity to represent Linnea’s Cake & Candy Supplies, and to execute special projects for a variety of confectionery clients.

Professionally, he has been an active member of several trade associations, including Retail Confectioners International, which honored him in 2012 with their Henry J. Bornhofft award "in grateful appreciation of his many years of outstanding leadership, loyalty, friendship and numerous contributions to the confectionery industry."

Civically, Dennis is involved in his local chapter of the Vietnam Veterans of America, Santa Clarita Valley’s UCLA Cancer Center and the annual Relay for Life event, and is a supporter of College of the Canyon’s new Institute of Culinary Education, scheduled to open in the Fall of 2014.
