Valencia's Jessie Rodriguez (16) and Holly Pittman (33) block a shot at Canyon High School on Tuesday.

It doesn’t seem to matter the situation or the opponent.

Valencia girls volleyball gets to work and plays at a high level week after week.

On Tuesday, the opponent happened to be Canyon, which Valencia beat 3-0 with the games finishing at 25-8, 25-13, 25-15 on Tuesday at Canyon High.

“We just focus on what we’re doing on our side of the net,” said Valencia head coach Ray Sanchez. “It really is irrelevant to what everyone else is doing.”

The win keeps Valencia (17-8 overall, 8-0 Foothill League) undefeated in league play with two matches to go.

For Valencia, Emily Burns, Emily Bible and Savi Carrol all tallied eight kills apiece in a match where most of the starting lineup didn’t play past the first game.

Rachel Perez had 21 assists for Valencia and Demi Dawson added 11 digs.

“We hopefully don’t have ups and downs and lulls and complacency and stuff like that,” Sanchez said. “So we’re really competing against ourselves.”

Leading the way for Canyon (3-18, 2-6) was Sara Greenland with five kills and eight digs. Katy Schwarz also had five kills and Megan Bleiler tacked on seven digs.

Valencia can clinch at least a share of the league title with a win at Hart on Thursday.

Canyon travels to face Saugus on Thursday.

West Ranch 3, Saugus 1

Alexis Clewis amassed 19 kills to boost the West Ranch Wildcats to a win by scores of 25-16, 23-25, 25-17, 27-25 on Tuesday at West Ranch High.

Kendall Myers added nine kills for West Ranch while hitting at a .530 clip.

“We played well enough during the critical junctures,” said West Ranch head coach Gerrit Maxwell.

With the win, West Ranch (10-4, 7-1) assures itself a second place finish in league at worst. The Wildcats can still win a Foothill title with wins over Golden Valley on Tuesday and Valencia on Tuesday in the league finale.

Haylee Fricke chipped in 12 assists and Haley Lind had 10 digs for West Ranch.

Saugus fell to 14-14 overall, 4-4 in league.

Hart 3, Golden Valley 0

The Hart Indians put together an efficient offensive performance in a sweep of Golden Valley by scores of 25-14, 25-9, 25-10 on Tuesday at Golden Valley High.

Four different Hart players, Brianne Beeman, Claire Cansler, Corrine Holloway and Ashley Aponik, finished with six kills each.

Megan Reck added five aces and 13 assists for the Indians (13-11, 4-4).

For Golden Valley (1-12, 0-8), Kelsey Bauer had seven digs, four kills and two aces.

Hart can try to secure its spot at third place in league with a win over Valencia on Thursday.

“At this point for us, preparing is just being aggressive and having no fear,” said Hart head coach Mary Keen. “There’s nothing to lose at this point.”
