SANTA CLARITA - Three people were arrested at gunpoint in Saugus this morning in connection with the theft of a scooter, according to a local sheriff’s spokesman.

Shortly before 9 a.m. Tuesday, deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to reports of a scooter stolen from a garage on Sandpiper Place, Lt. Mark Hershey said.

Deputies immediately began looking for a Black Chevy Trailblazer thought to contain the stolen scooter.

At 8:54 a.m., one deputy reported to his dispatcher that he had a suspect detained at gunpoint on Sierra Highway at Rainbow Glen Drive.

About 9 a.m., he reported “extricating” the driver and one passenger at gunpoint, followed by “extricating” a passenger seated in the backseat of the stopped vehicle.

Three people were taken into custody.

The age, gender and identities of the suspects have not been disclosed.
