The Hart Indians finished the perfect season with a perfect win.

Hart won all 18 sets against Canyon on Thursday in the Foothill League finale at Canyon High. That also means Hart won all 17 of its regular season matches this season to finish 17-0 and 10-0 in league play.

“It’s just a goal we had set to win them all from the beginning and it’s nice to able to finish that,” said Hart head coach Chris Mansfield.

The Indians’ singles lineup overcame its primary obstacle on the day, which was Canyon sophomore Katrina DeGuzman.

Hart’s Jackie Resler beat DeGuzman 6-2 to avenge a loss to her earlier in the season.

That win, coupled with two other set victories on the day gave Resler a 29-1 finish in league sets this year.

Fellow Hart singles players Proyfon Lohaphaisan and Natalia Munoz also swept against Canyon to improve their league seasons to 27-0 and 30-0, respectively.

In doubles play, Hart’s Lauren Dam and Bailey Sindle won two sets, 6-1, 6-0.

Also winning two sets apiece was the pairing of Carissa Costanzo and Cassidy Wilkinson along with Sheridan Mott and Maddison Ladanyi.

Valencia 13, West Ranch 5

With a 13-5 win over the West Ranch Wildcats in the final Foothill League match, the Valencia Vikings wrapped up a second-place finish in league on Thursday at Valencia High.

The Vikings (14-4 overall, 8-2 league) got contributions from all over the lineup, winning seven singles sets and six in doubles.

From the No. 3 singles spot, Valencia’s Sabrina Wueste swept in singles 6-1, 7-5, 6-0 while her teammates Tina Inchalik and Katelyn Choi each won two sets.

West Ranch’s Quinterra Walter-Eze won both of her team’s singles sets.

Usual singles player Julia Lynch and Hannah Yooster teamed up to play doubles for West Ranch (8-6, 6-4), which ended up in third place in league for the second straight year.

In doubles play, the Valencia team of Remy Balmain and Kate Zeile won two sets, 6-4 and 7-5.

West Ranch No. 1 doubles team MacKenzie Lyle and Sydney Schwartz were victorious in two of three sets, but fell 7-5 to Lindsey Wolf and Morgan Meunitz.

Amanda Braun and Lauren Wolf also won a pair of sets for the Vikings.

Saugus 14, Golden Valley 4

Saugus girls tennis defeated Golden Valley 14-4 in both teams’ regular season finales.

Carlie Ozaki (6-3, 6-4, 6-1) and Megan Cho (6-1, 7-5, 6-1) each swept on the singles side.

Caren Rosen and Rachel Callas swept their doubles sets 6-0, 6-2, 6-0.

“They will be the best shot at advancing in prelims. They finished real strong,” said Saugus head coach Ken Jeffris of his No. 1 doubles team.

Gabi Montesinos and Hannah Miller also swept 6-0, 7-5, 6-2.

Saugus finished fourth place overall in the Foothill League at 4-6 and 12-6 overall.

“We were able to win three of the last four going into (Foothill League individual) prelims (next week),” Jeffris said. “The girls are excited about their chances in prelims.”
