SANTA CLARITA - A woman was taken to the hospital Wednesday with injuries suffered in a Newhall traffic collision involving a motorcycle and minivan, fire and sheriff’s officials said.

About 3 p.m. Wednesday, deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to reports of a motorcyclist hurt in a collision at the intersection of Via Pacifica and Wiley Canyon Road, said Lt. Tom Bryski.

“We got the call as a traffic collision on Via Princessa and Wiley Canyon (Road),” said Inspector Keith Mora of the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

Paramedics transported the motorcyclist to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital around 3:20 p.m.

The injured woman was conscious when treated at the scene by Fire Department paramedics, said Rick McClure, a photographer who witnessed the rescue efforts, noting Wiley Canyon becomes Via Princessa about 500 feet east of Via Pacifica.

The motorcyclist appeared to have suffered cuts and bruises but no apparent broken bones, he said.
