Hundreds of wine-lovers raised a glass in support of local businesses and in honor of women’s health issues Sunday when they took part in the 6th annual Wine Affair hosted by Soroptimist International of Greater Santa Clarita Valley.

The annual Wine Affair, this year dubbed “Sip, Stroll and Savor the Sounds,” contained in a corridor of shops at the Westfield Valencia Town Center mall was a hit among participants who went shop-to-shop sampling wine.

“We’ve had 400 to 450 people come through so far,” said Wine Broker Alex Slezak, of Vin West International, as he poured wine for event wine samplers inside the Valencia Wine Company shop on Town Center Drive.

“It’s been very very successful,” he said.

Comfort Keepers In-Home Care were the title sponsor of this year’s event, placing grape-like clusters of purple balloons at each of the shops taking part in the event.

This year’s event was expected to draw more than 600 people for an afternoon of wine, appetizers and live music among the shops and restaurants lining Town Center Drive.

“I’m here supporting a great cause,” said Soroptimist member and event volunteer, Gail Pinsker. “This is my third year volunteering and I am happy to be here.”
