Be ready to pay when you get in the checkout line

I just don’t understand it, but it happens almost all the time.

I’m talking about the fact that women, sometimes men, but universally women, do not seem to realize that when the checkout clerk in the supermarket has finished entering all the groceries, they have to be paid for.

Time and time again, when I’m waiting in the checkout line, I see a women suddenly realize that it is time to pay her bill.

Now, not one second ahead of time, but now when the last item has been rung up, will she start to fumble and rummage through her purse to find her credit card or check book.

Good grief, just once I’d like to see a woman ready to pay when the bill is tallied.
