Foothill tennis roundup: Grizzlies even the score

Canyon did it to Golden Valley earlier this season, now the Grizzlies have done it to the Cowboys.

Golden Valley won its first Foothill League match of the year Thursday with a 9-9 (72-70) games win at Golden Valley.

Canyon beat Golden Valley in games 78-72 on Sept. 24.

The Grizzlies’ Beau Lauron won two sets 6-3, 6-1. Charmaine Reyes won 7-5 in a critical set.

Golden Valley doubles team Ciyana Andreeva and Emily Cuadros won two sets 6-1, 6-1 and Shannon Kim and Amalie Chang won 6-0, 6-0.

For Canyon, Katrina DeGuzman swept 6-0, 6-2, 6-0.

Canyon’s doubles team of Heaven Sullivan and Alexa Mendez won 6-3, 6-4, 6-1.

Golden Valley is 3-7 overall and 1-4 in the Foothill.

Hart 16, West Ranch 2

Hart (12-0, 5-0) defeated West Ranch 16-2 at Hart.

Hart was led by the sweep in singles by Jackie Resler, Proyfon Lohaphaisan, and Natalia Munoz, who combined to win 54 games and only lose two.

All three players are undefeated, each with records of 15-0 in league.

Lauren Dam and Bailey Sindle swept in doubles, while Carissa Costanzo and Maddison Ladanyi won two.

Valencia 16, Saugus 2

The Vikings (9-3, 4-1) didn’t drop one game on the singles side.

For Valencia, Katelyn Choi and Sabrina Wueste won three sets each and Tina Inchalik won two.

Lindsey Wolf and Kate Zeile, Lauren Wolf and Amanda Braun and Morgan Meunitz and Mikaela Jamieson each won two sets.

Saugus’ Carly Ozaki and Megan Cho, normally No. 1 and 2 singles players, won two sets as a doubles team 7-6 (10-8), 7-6 (7-4)

Saugus is 8-4 overall and 1-4 in league and will play Golden Valley on Monday.
