Interstate 5 was wide open for commuters this morning after the entire freeway was closed down in Sun Valley on Wednesday afternoon due to a water, rock and mud flow across all lanes.

A California Highway Patrol spokeswoman said the final lanes were reopened about 10 p.m. Wednesday after Caltrans workers spent hours clearing the freeway of debris.

Initial reports indicated the freeway flooding was caused by a water main break, but the cause of the incident was under investigation.
