An even dozen people are vying to fill a vacancy on the Hart district board and secure the four-year term that goes with it.

The 12 candidates for the seat in the William S. Hart Union High School District are Linda A. Calvo, Ronda Chobanian, Eileen Connolly, Bruce Fox, Robert Hall, Jim Heffernan, Sharon Hill, Ann E. Kerman, Jinghong Li, Philip Phillipson, Lee Schramling and Lance K. Williams, according to a news release from the district.

The candidates are subject to a verification of requirements to ensure they are eligible to hold the board seat. Those qualifications include being at least 18 years of age, a resident of the Hart district and a registered voter in California. They also must “not be disqualified from holding civil office by the Constitution or any law of the state of California,” according to the district.

Each of the 12 candidates is seeking to replace Chris Fall, who left the board in August due to a potential conflict of interest.
Only one of the 12 candidates, Fox, previously applied for recent board vacancies.

Sitting board members will interview candidates on Oct. 16 beginning at 3 p.m. Whoever is appointed will serve a full, four-year term on the board just as if he or she had been elected.
