A motorcycle rider fled from California Highway Patrol officers in Agua Dulce but was arrested following a brief pursuit on Sierra Highway, a California Highway Patrol official reported Saturday.

The chase started when a CHP officer pulled over two motorcycles traveling southbound on Sierra Highway late Friday night, CHP Sgt. Robert Lund said.

One motorcycle rider stopped on the right side of the road just north of Agua Dulce Canyon Road, but the second sped away and continued traveling southbound. Lund said three CHP officers pursued him.

The suspect turned left onto Sand Canyon Road, traveling about a half-mile on the road.

He then failed to make a turn on the winding road and drove into an embankment, Lund said.

The suspect complained of pain in his right leg and was transported to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital for treatment.

He was identified as 29-year-old Agua Dulce resident Jacob Gardner.
