SANTA CLARITA - The driver of a pickup truck that crashed near Gorman this morning was airlifted to an area hospital, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County Fire Department said.

About 6 a.m. Thursday, paramedics responded to reports of a blue Toyota Tacoma that had apparently crashed through a fence and flipped on Liebre Ranch Road near Highway 138 and about a half mile east of the National Cement of California plant, said the spokesman.

“We got the call as a rollover with a patient trapped,” he said.

California Highway Patrol officers said the vehilc sustained major damage.

A helicopter rescue team touched down in an open field near the crash and transported one patient to the hospital at 6:34 a.m., he said.

The identity, age and gender of the victim were not disclosed.
