SANTA CLARITA - A second suspect — a woman — has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in the stabbing of a Newhall man last month, the sergeant in charge of the investigation said Wednesday.

Sara Lynn McConahay, 27, of Canyon Country, was arrested by Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies at 4:45 p.m. Monday and charged with attempted murder, a felony, said sheriff’s Sgt. Dean Currie of the Career, Offender, Burglary, Robbery Apprehension team.

“This is our second suspect in the Newhall stabbing,” Currie told The Signal today.

McConahay’s arrest was made without incident, Currie said.

On Sept. 23, COBRA team members arrested 20-year-old Daniel Constantino, also of Canyon Country and also on suspicion of attempted murder. He remains in custody without bail.

McConahay is being held on $1.09 million.

The victim, identified only as a 25-year-old Canyon Country man, spent more than two weeks at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital in critical condition after undergoing emergency surgery, Currie said.

“He was there last week,” he said, referring to the hospital.

The man was attacked in Newhall on Sept. 15 after his car was intentionally rammed by that of his attacker. He was stabbed after the collision, according to local sheriff’s officials.

The attack was believed to be gang related or the result of a road rage incident.

McConahay is scheduled to appear in San Fernando Superior Court Thursday; Constantino on Friday.
