RIALTO, Calif. (AP) — An investigator says a woman arrested on suspicion of stealing lunch money from a Southern California school district may have embezzled more than $3 million over the past 14 years.

The San Bernardino Sun says the figure was provided to the board of the Rialto Unified School District Wednesday night by a private investigator, who was hired to perform an audit.

School Board President Joseph Ayala says it's a "sad moment" for the district.

Former district accountant Judith Oakes was arrested last month. She handled deposits of student lunch money into a district bank account. Authorities say she was captured on video stuffing money into her bra.

Oakes couldn't be reached for comment Thursday. She's free on bail and hasn't been charged with a crime.
