Two Canyon Country men were arrested this week for assaulting a 16-year-old boy with a knife and baseball bat.

Wender Mulatillo, 18, and a juvenile male were arrested Tuesday night for their roles in the assault and booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station on felony charges of assault with a deadly weapon, according to a sheriff's report released Thursday.

The assault reportedly occurred late Tuesday afternoon, when deputies responded to a call of several males fighting with baseball bats and a knife in the 28000 block of Whites Canyon Road.

When deputies arrived to the scene, they found the 16-year-old boy with injuries to his neck. He was taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital, and his injuries were not life-threatening. The suspects reportedly fled the scene before deputies arrived.

Mulatillo and the juvenile were later found and arrested at their Canyon Country apartment, where deputies found two bats and a machete.

Both weapons were apparently used in the assault.

Deputies said the assault appears to be gang-related. Mulatillo is being held in lieu of $30,000 bail. The boy is in custody at Sylmar Juvenile Hall.

No one else was injured in the incident.
