Canyon Country East Crime Report: deputies investigate burglaries

Last week, the following Part 1 crimes occurred in Canyon Country East:

(1) Attempt GTA, (1) GTA, (5) Residential Burglaries, (1) Petty theft from a vehicle.

During the past week we saw a reduction in part 1 crimes in Zone 8. There were only 5 residential burglaries reported and no vehicle window smash burglaries.

On 09/10/13, near the 17000 block of Chelsea Way, there was an apartment burglary along with an attempted grand theft auto. This occurred after the California Highway Patrol conducted a traffic stop on the SR 14 freeway on a speeding vehicle. After they determined that the driver was unlicensed and driving recklessly the CHP took possession of the driver’s vehicle and dropped off the driver and his two passengers near the Via Princessa off ramp. The three suspects then walked through the Jakes Way area and allegedly broke into a garage and stole numerous items. The suspects also attempted to steal a vehicle that was parked on the street so they could get home. Two of the suspects were arrested at the time of the incident. The third suspect is still outstanding. If you have any information regarding this incident please call Santa Clarita station detectives.

A pool filter was stolen from the Sand Canyon Village town homes. The suspect broke into the community pool area were the filter was stored. The suspects then pried open the door to the room were the pump was located and stole it.

A bicycle was stolen near the 27000 block of Tyler Lane. The bike was described as a 19”, blue in color, “Gary Fischer” bike. The bike was taken from the garage of the location but how the suspects made entry to the garage is unknown.

Two people left their vehicles unlocked with valuable property in plain view. The suspects were able to easily gain access to the vehicles and steal the items. This is a good reminder to secure your vehicles and remove your valuable property when you park your car.
