Streetscaping is best described as a beautification project that includes pedestrian-friendly sidewalks, streetlighting, street furniture and landscaping. To support the landscaping portion of the project, it is necessary to replace and improve the water and drainage system that supports the area. The streetscape project is intended to transform the look and feel of Old Town Newhall as it burgeons into an Arts & Entertainment District.
"The city has long-been committed to the revitalization of the Old Town Newhall area," Mayor Frank Ferry said. "Along with the streetscape, we are moving forward with future plans for additional services and a new library facility for the community."
To oversee the construction process, and to answer questions from area business owners, residents and customers, a streetscape construction office is currently open and located 24261 Main Street. The city's project construction liaison, Brad Therrien, available Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. via walk-ins or phone: 661-260-3431.
