Suspect caught for allegedly firing a shot

Sheriff's deputies arrested a Stevenson Ranch man after he allegedly fired a shot at a resident in Canyon Country Thursday night, said Lt. Mark Hershey.

Suspect Adam Donleypeers, 24, was seen tagging with a group about 5:15 p.m., Harris said.

"A UPS driver saw them and made some comment to them...they approached him and were a little aggressive toward him," Hershey said.

A citizen carrying a baseball bat then tried to intervene when Donleypeers allegedly "retrieved a hand gun and shot once" as he and the group ran away, Hershey said.

Detectives searched for the suspects around Delight Street and Langside Avenue in Canyon Country.

The sheriff's COBRA unit, which deals primarily with youth and gang crime issues, located and interviewed several individuals involved in the tagging and identified the shooter as Donleypeers.

Detectives eventually located the suspect after contacting him by phone and he was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, Hershey said.
