Hart graduate and Tyler Glasnow pitches for the Single-A West Virginia Power. Glasnow was honored as the Pittsburgh Pirates' minor league Pitcher of the Year.

Hart High graduate Tyler Glasnow has been lighting things up this season, and the Pittsburgh Pirates organization officially recognized him this week as their top minor league pitcher.

Glasnow, who finished the season 9-3 with a 2.18 ERA and 164 strikeouts to 61 walks in 111 1/3 innings pitched, won the Pirates’ minor league Pitcher of the Year award.

The 19-year-old right-handed pitcher was drafted by the Pirates in the fifth round of the 2011 First-Year Player Draft out of Hart and was named a South Atlantic League midseason and postseason All Star this year.

He spent his entire season with the Single-A West Virginia Power.

“Tyler has worked extremely hard since we drafted him two years ago,” said Larry Broadway, Pirates’ Director of Minor League Operations, in a press release. “He continues to want to get better every day and puts in the effort to do so. He had a really nice season under the lights for the first time this year while helping the West Virginia club to a playoff berth.”

Saugus grad Delio named Dakotas Tour Player of the Year

Nick Delio finished atop The Dakotas Tour Player of the Year pool, picking up 1,922 points in 12 events to edge Christopher Evans, who had 1,806 1/2 points in 14 events.

Delio picking up a tour-high three wins on the year and led with nine top-10 finishes.

The Saugus graduate also added a third-place finish to help push him over the top.

Delio’s biggest win of the season came at the Western Printing Pro-Am at Moccasin Creek in Aberdeen, S.D. from July 19-21, when he shot a 209 across three rounds to win a prize $15,000. It was the second of two straight victories, as Delio won the one-round Dakotas Tour at Olive Grove match with an 8-under 64.
