If books are your bag, then the Friends of the Santa Clarita Public Library group has an event for you.

The group is in the midst of its “Bag Sale,” during which library patrons can purchase a book bag for $7 and fill it with used books to keep.

“We’ve had a really good turnout,” said Librarian Miles Davis at the Valencia library location on Magic Mountain Parkway.

“A lot of people have been bouncing back and forth between the libraries comparing books,” he said Tuesday.

Today marks the last day of the sale, which is going on at all three branches of the Santa Clarita library in Canyon Country, Newhall and Valencia.

Proceeds from the event go to benefit the library system.

Library patron and sci-fi reader Romeo Lamarca bought a promotional book bag for $7 Tuesday and immediately started loading it up with sci-fi and fantasy books.

“I saw a couple of books I wanted a couple of days ago but they’re gone already,” he said.

“I already have some of the authors with books here,” he added.
