SANTA CLARITA - A bicyclist was injured on a winding Santa Clarita Valley canyon road Sunday following a traffic collision with a car, a Fire Department inspector said.

The collision was reported shortly after 11:20 a.m. Sunday on Bouquet Canyon Road near Spunky Canyon, said Fire Department Inspector Kyle Sanford.

“We got the call from sheriff’s (deputies) of an auto versus a bicyclist,” he said. “We transported one patient to the hospital.”

A male patient was taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital, said a spokeswoman at the CHP communication center.

“He was bleeding but conscious,” she said of the cyclist. No injuries were reported to the driver of the car.

The crash happened about three miles north of Big Oaks Lodge and just south of Quarry Road, according to the CHP official.
