A seventh-grader from Rancho Pico Junior High School was injured this morning after he was hit by a car near Pico Canyon Elementary School in Stevenson Ranch.

The boy was on foot and en route to school around 8:15 a.m. when he was hit by a car near the intersection of Constitution Avenue and Pico Canyon Road, according to Sgt. Rick Miler of the California Highway Patrol's Newhall area station.

There were no arrests made, Miler said.

The boy reportedly suffered minor, non-life-threatening injuries including a head wound, and was airlifted with a parent to Children's Hospital in Los Angeles.

All parents of Rancho Pico students were notified by phone of the collision, said Pat Willett, spokeswoman for the William S. Hart Union High School District. She said counseling is being offered to any students who may have witnessed the collision or who were affected by it.
