The California Teachers Association (CTA) is accepting applications for the 50th annual John Swett Award for Media Excellence, given to professional media outlets who have demonstrated exceptional coverage of California public education.

To be eligible for this award, prospective media outlets must submit a work that appeared anytime in 2008. The entry must then be nominated by one of CTA's state wide chapters or Service Councils. All entries are subject to judgment by media peers and must be sent by March 20.

All award winners will receive notification via a statewide CTA news release. Winners will also be honored at the CTA-hosted State Council of Education luncheon in Los Angeles on Friday, May 15 as well as have their names appear in a full-page ad in the "Columbia Journalism Review."
