SANTA CLARITA - At Nancy's Ranch on Magic Mountain Parkway near the Iron Horse Trailhead, things were looking a lot like fall Friday as workers harvested pumpkins for the seasonal sale of the gourds.

Nancy's Ranch is locally famous for 43 years of cut-your-own Christmas trees in the Santa Clarita Valley, but first come the pumpkin sales.

On Friday, hundreds of the traditional Halloween fruit weighing some 675 pounds were harvested from the 1.6-acre field visible from Magic Mountain Parkway.

Pumpkin sales start Oct. 5, and some 15 tons are expected to be harvested and sold.
