Arthur Eugene Lindsey, 73, convicted of murder in Indiana, faces four felony rape charges and an additional charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm.

SANTA CLARITA - A convicted murderer facing four felony counts of rape in the alleged attack last June on an unconscious woman was charged with an additional felony count Thursday, the prosecutor said.

Arthur Eugene Lindsey, 73, of Acton appeared in Antelope Valley Superior Court on Thursday, where he learned he will face an additional charge of possession of a firearm by a felon.

Lindsey, who lives at the White Rock Lake mobile home park on Soledad Canyon Road, was convicted of murder during the commission of rape in Indiana in 1968, according to the Meagan’s Law website posted for registered sex offenders by the California Department of Justice.

He served 33 years in prison before moving to Acton and is listed as a “low to moderate” risk on the Meagan’s Law website.

“I filed a new charge today of possession of a firearm by a felon,” Deputy District Attorney Jon Hatami said Thursday. “We anticipate a preliminary hearing on the new charge.”

Hatamii said he hopes to consolidate the latest charge with the existing rape charges already set for trial so that all charges could be addressed at one time.

“Right now we’re waiting on DNA results and toxicology results,” Hatami said. “Hopefully, with the (charge) consolidation and with the toxicology results in, the trial could happen in November.”

Lindsey pleaded no contest in 2005 for having failed to register as a sex offender, the court official said, and served four years in an Indiana state prison for that offense.

On June 5, deputies with the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station arrested him on suspicion he raped a woman identified only as Tiffany F. by prosecutors in their formal complaint filed against him.

On June 20, Lindsey was ordered to stand trial on rape charges that include two counts of rape of an unconscious person, one count of oral copulation of an unconscious person and one count of sexual penetration of an unconscious person.
