Bridgeport Elementary School tudents gathered for their outdoor assembly, where local heroes shared their community contributions with the students.

Bridgeport Elementary School celebrated Patriot Day on 9-11-2013 with a morning Character Counts assembly.

Local heroes were invited out to the school and shared with students their contributions to our community.

Students heard Principal Susan Bender speak on the important role of the community heroes, and students sang patriotic songs to commemorate the occasion.

In addition, all students at Bridgeport took part in the “IWILL” campaign and partnered with “Hands-On Santa Clarita” to complete a visual display for the evening event honoring local heroes at the Westfield Valencia Town Center.

According to Principal Bender, “We are excited to have the opportunity to recognize heroes in our local community and to partner with local organizations in order to help our students begin to reach out beyond the walls of our school and to impact our greater community.”

Bridgeport Elementary has begun a focus this year on partnering with local community-based organizations and non-profit groups to help students become more involved in community work and looks forward to more community partnerships this school year.
